Independence Day 2010 will always have special meaning for Scott Stapp.

It's the date the 36-year-old Creed frontman and his wife Jaclyn Nesheiwat welcomed a boy into the world.

Daniel Issam Stapp joins big sister Milan, 3, and 12-year-old half-brother Jagger, about whom Stapp penned the band's No. 1 single With Arms Wide Open. With such honest lyrics as ``I don't know if I'm ready to be the man I have to be/I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side/We stand in awe, we've created life,'' the 2000 hit struck a chord with many new parents.

Though Stapp penned the song as a nervous dad-to-be, he's now an old pro.

``It's been an exciting time for us,'' he says from his Miami home. ``We're nesting at home enjoying the baby. Everything's quiet.''

That sounds hard to believe with a newborn, but it's true, he says.

``We're broken-in parents; we know how to do it now,'' he says. ``But we're lucky. D.I. only cries when he has a wet diaper or he's hungry.''

Sounds like the Stapps may have a budding musician on their hands.

``The baby is getting really alert. I think he even may be communicating a little. He stared right at me this morning when I whistled scales at him.''

Stapp, who will play with Creed July 31 at Cruzan Ampitheatre as part of the ``20-10 Tour,'' can always use an audience when he's rehearsing for his next solo album, due out early next year.

The stuff he's writing reflects his current personal situation.

``I spend a lot of time sitting around watching my family, and I love my wife dearly so I wrote Crazy in Love for her,'' he says. ``I'm never done learning how to articulate about that, and I want to get it right. She and my daughter have changed my understanding of women.''

Miami is another inspiration.

``I love the water; I love the ocean. It keeps it from being Groundhog Day for me every day,'' says Stapp, who has a home on Biscayne Bay. ``I just feel connected to the water.''

Life down here is pretty normal.

``I can stroll down Lincoln Road with my kids and do my thing,'' says the North Carolina native. ``It's a city that's alive -- it's breathing, moving.''

Stapp can usually walk around without getting stopped, though there are a few who mistake the rocker for his celebrity doppelganger, Colin Farrell.

``People come up to me and ask me, `Colin! Can I have your autograph?' ''

The two met a few years ago.

``We were joking around because he always gets mistaken for me. We're the same height and build,'' he says, adding, ``He's much better looking.''

Stapp likes to keep in touch with his fans and isn't averse to Tweeting, Facebook and such. But his kids won't see much of that action.

``[The Internet] is a double-edged sword,'' he says, ``though it's a great way for an artist to stay connected to their fans or their family or friends, it really exposes the underbelly of our society and it's really in my opinion keeping a lot of kids inside.''

The Stapp household is strict about computer time.

``We have cutoff times, even for Dad,'' he says. ``The Internet is strictly for school projects. No video games unless it's earned.''

He'd rather see kids get some fresh air.

``I tell my son, `There are bikes out there, Go!' When I was his age I was begging to go outside!''

ISN'T IT A BEAUTIFUL GLIMPSE! Thank you, Stapp Family!
