Scott Stapp Song "Somber" Powerful & Very Emotional - A Real Gem

Hello Guys:

Just wanted to give Scott a big thumbs up for the awesome song "Somber" that he wrote for the new album. I've been listening to it basically nonstop for the past week. It is very powerful and the lyrics cut quite deep.

Particularly when it says, "I'll be damned a slow suicide a life I chose to lead. Silent screams I can't ignore." Real stuff and honest. I also like when Scotty sings, "Can you see what lies beneath?

Everything we are and used to be is buried and gone." This song speaks very loudly to me: I have fought the demon of depression for many years, and this song describes the feelings in truly remarkable form. The online dictionary says that somber is: "so shaded as to be dark and gloomy." The song carries the message and also has that very same feel.

It, however, has a taste of hope underneath it all that I find quite inspiring. When Scott sings, "Violent scenes are getting old, Deception tears me to the core - Somber why stay in denial" I sense a turning point... a letting go of the old and everything that harms through blunt acceptance of what one has become and no longer wants to be.

The inflections that Scott uses in his singing emphasize the deep feeling/reality of the message. The music itself is impeccable... it is an all-around outstanding song. If this is just a sample of the new album, I have no doubt that it's going to be a monster. Great job brother! A+++
